Yes, I will continue to call out useless milestones.

Recently, I managed to:
A: Find my stupid paint tray thing.
B: Paint models using it, as opposed to stacking crap on it to collect dust.

As a certain giant nerd tournament approaches, I've been tossed back into the potential throes of my accursed addiction - painting stupid lil' mans and growing my back hump further. I'm currently in mental preparation for building an army from scratch and painting it in, more than likely, a last minute marathon. So, to ease back into things with the most minimal of effort, I shipped some totally unrelated 20mm models off to friend for painting! Woooo cash rules!

Then I got off my butt, due to guilt, and painted 26 of my 20mm Germans that have been in a near state of completeness for years now. These will complement the ones I sent out nicely. The fun thing about this batch is that they were guinea pigs of sorts. I picked up a can of this insta-shade stuff for near to nothing the other day. People claim to have painted entire armies in a weekend - with decent results - using the stuff. All you have to do is lay down a decent, neatly executed basecoat. Then just dip 'em and wait. I've been quite dubious of the technique for years, but gave it a swing on my tiny Germans. You can see them crummily photgraphed "pre-dip" above and "post-dip" below.

Much to my surprise it worked out great. Saved me hours of pain. I will be using it for just about all my smaller scale (below 20mm) needs in some form. It really did do a super job of shading. Though going forward, brighter colors will be needed for basecoats, since the shading does knock the colors down a bit.

I DUNNO UNCLE TONY, MAYBE THIS WILL HURT OUR PIZZA BUSINESS. HOW ABOUT WE RETHINK THE WHOLE FELT STAR THING HUH?

I just think that maybe the choice for a 6 pointed star award to reflect
all those years of service weren't thought out none so good.

WWII NERD SHIT ALERT

Nerd alert! The shitty one-man mail order operation finally sent me my damn German dry transfers. For 8 bucks in shipping, you think they coulda gotten the three sheets of fucking paper across the USA in under three weeks. But well...yeah. So I spent the evening cursing my sausage-like fingers, lining up turret numbers, and rubbing Baltic Crosses on lil' vehicles. Looking now, I totally forgot to add the MG 42s onto the Hanomags. For scale purposes, the tiny dudes are glued onto pennies. Command Sdkfz 251/10 and Late War Panzergrenadier Platoon Command above.

Hetzer Tank Destroyer and an Alt-WWII German Walking Tank type thing I bashed toghether from a Maschinen Krieger model and spare tank bits. I'd like to do a few more.

MY FIRST GERMAN

No, it's not some sorta warped Playskool set. It's just the 1st (of many) German dudes I managed to finally paint up. I been slowly building up a legion of these things for a few years now. They're trimmed, they've been glued down onto pennies (not on Lincoln's face, NEVER on Lincoln's face!), they're basecoated - time to get moving on them. This fella leads some Pz Gren and his interests include flying kites, poetry, and kitten farming. I figured out a pretty simple painting method using inks that should speed them along. I just need to write down the colors I used and the German war machine will be up and running.
